Travel writer, co-founder and CEO of Intrepid Travel, Darrell Wade has not only established a world wide business organisation catering to small group travel adventures but has also pursued a philanthropic vision through the development of the Intrepid Foundation which he heads. Intrepid Travel commenced operations in 1989 in South-East Asia and subsequently expanded to include Europe, the Middle East, Australasia, the Pacific, Latin America and the rest of Asia. Intepid now takes travellers to more than 100 countries worldwide each year, employing close to 1000 staff throughout the world. It has offices in twelve countries.

Darrell was educated at Bellaire State School before attending Geelong College from 1971 to 1978. He then completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Melbourne University. After finishing University he travelled extensively with co-founder of Intrepid, Geoff Manchester, a fellow Commerce Graduate from Melbourne University. It was in Africa that the pair first articulated their idea for the future company.


Darrell was guest speaker at the College's Speech Day Award Ceremony in 2010.
