STRICKLAND, Lennard John (1880-1949) Lennard John Strickland was born 13 May 1880, the son of an Old Collegian, Reverend Frederick Phillip Strickland (1853-1942) and Ann Alexander nee Barry (Barrie).
Lennard was a boarder at Geelong College entering on 26 April 1898, and listing his address as Menzies Consolidated Gold Mining Company, Menzies, Western Australia. He was a member of the 1st Football Teams of 1898, 1899 and 1900 and Football Captain in 1900. He won the Geelong College Cup in his last year at the College, 1899. He was a VFL footballer and played 5 games in 1900 for the Geelong Football Club.
He served in the Anglo-Boer War. During World War I, he re-enlisted (No 3912) in the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC) on 2 August 1915, embarking for overseas service with 6th Field Ambulance, 7th Brigade Headquarters, and arriving in France on 20 February 1917. He was wounded in action in Belgium on 18 September 1917 and evacuated to England on
HS Ville de Liege on 24 September. He returned to Australia on
HMT Marathon, embarking on 6 ovember 1918.
His brother, Pte James Alexander Strickland, of 51 Battalion, died at the County of Middlesex War Hospital, Napsbury, St Albans, on 2 October 1918 of wounds sustained in France, a little over a month before the signing of the Armistice. He was was buried in St Alban's Cemetery, Hertford by Rev Haworth W Jones on 7 October, the service attended by his father, his sister, and brother-in-law, Flight Cadet Howe, RAP.

Frederick Phillip David Strickland (1875-1950), was also educated at Geelong College.
