Frank Stone (Pegasus 1990)

Frank James Stone, rowing coach and Director of Rowing at Geelong College from January 1986 to the end of Third Term 1990, died on 12 May 2017.

Born in Sydney on 24 March 1950 he taught part-time as a rowing coach at Wesley College and Geelong Grammar, then full-time at St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill, The Scots College, Bellevue Hill and The Rockhampton Grammar School before his appointment to Geelong College as Director of Rowing. He had also been a member of Mosman Rowing Club, NSW, Power House Rowing Club and Mercantile Rowing Club, Vic. He left College for a position at Melbourne Grammar and later taught at Gippsland Grammar School until his retirement in 2015. During his time, College recorded victories in the Girls’ Head of the River, 1989 and the Boys’ Head of the River, 1990.
