'Bill' Dix, businessman, has led a distinguished career leading some of Australia's most iconic enterprises. He commenced his working career with Ford Australia in 1941, rising rapidly through the company to become President of Ford Japan and Managing Director of Ford Australia from 1981 to 1990.

He has held a great number of senior business positions. These have included; Chairman of Telecom, Chairman of Qantas Airlines from 1989 to 1993, Chairman of Australian Airlines in 1992 and Commissioner of the City of Greater Geelong. He has also been Finance Director of the Geelong Football Club. He became a member of the Order of Australia (AO) on 8 June 1987 'for service to secondary industry, particularly the automotive industry'.

Bill Dix became a day student at the Geelong College from 16 February 1939 to December 1941. Previously, he had attended the Christian Brothers School at Warrnambool.

In October 2014, Bill Dix was inducted into the Old Geelong Collegians' Association (OGCA) Notables Gallery at Geelong College.
