BELL, Robert Alan (Bob) (1928-2022)

Bob Bell boarded at The Geelong College 1941-1947, having previously attended Albury Grammar School. Starting in the Preparatory School Bob was a keen sportsman. He entered the Senior School in 1945. He boarded in Warrinn House, becoming house captain in 1947. He was a member of the 1st XI cricket team for three years. He was part of the premiership teams of 1946 and 1947, the College’s first two cricket premierships, as vice-captain then captain. The Pegasus noted his enthusiasm and leadership; he also won the WH Hill memorial trophy.

During his time at the college, he also was on the Cricket and Tennis committees, 1st Tennis team, and received school and house colours for cricket and tennis. Bob also reached the rank of Sergeant in the Cadets and served as School Prefect in his final year, 1947.

Bob would go on to work in the pastoral industry and was married to Alison. He retired to Melbourne in the early 1990s.

Bob passed away 14 June 2022, aged, 93 years.
