OLD GEELONG FOOTBALL CLUB

OLD GEELONG FOOTBALL CLUB

‘In 1965, an attempt was made to form an Old Geelong Collegians' Association (OGCA) football team for entry in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) using the Senior School Oval. This had been suggested the previous year by former staff member Ross Quick. VAFA rejected the OGCA application. Ad Astra in 1979 reported that Old Geelong Collegians’ had played for the Old Grammarians’ Football Club until in 1973 there were thirteen old Collegians wearing the Old Grammarian colours.

At this stage the OGGFC committee requested sponsorship by both the Old Grammarians' and Old Collegians’ committees which led to the re-constitution of the OGGFC as the Old Geelong Football Club. The club was incorporated in 1981 and continues to be made up of Old Collegians’ and Old Grammarians’ who live in Melbourne. In 2005, the Cub had about 100 members playing in three teams in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).
