McINNES, Robert Robertson (1925-2016)

McINNES, Robert Robertson (1925-2016)

‘Bob’ McInnes was one of College’s longest serving employees for 47 years from 1947 to 1993.

Originally employed as a boilerman in the days when a steam boiler provided hot water for the catering and cleaning operations for boarders, ‘Bob’ carried out many jobs around school including those of general driver and courier. At his retirement, the students of the Junior School (Campbell House) for whom he was their bus driver gave him a special sendoff. ‘Bob’ served in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II and started at the School after his service ended.

He died on 29 January 2016, aged 90, at Wallace Lodge, Grace McKellar Centre, Geelong.
