HOUSE-KEEPERS

HOUSE-KEEPERS

The east facing corner of the original 1871 College building included the private residence of the Morrison Family. Principals up to, and including Dr Buntine, lived in this building. Housekeepers were employed from early in the School’s history by the Morrison Family although there is little documentation regarding their activities. Their roles appear to have included some involvement in the domestic arrangements of boarders. The earliest known house-keeper was Mary Greenwood, sister of George Morrison’s wife Rebecca.
