HERMITAGE CHURCH of ENGLAND GIRLS’ GRAMMAR SCHOOL

HERMITAGE CHURCH of ENGLAND GIRLS’ GRAMMAR SCHOOL

The Hermitage School was opened on 13 February 1906 by Lady Wrixon and was established in the Hermitage mansion in Pakington St, Newtown. This building had originally been built for George Armytage to a design by Geelong architect, Edward Prowse. The School moved to Highton in 1973. In 1976 the Hermitage School, together with the Clyde School, merged with Geelong Grammar School.

The close geographical location of the Hermitage School to College encouraged some associations with Geelong College.

A prize at the College known as Hermitage Old Girls' Association Prize has been awarded since
