GRAY, Edgar Oliver (1891-1946)


He was born at Kew on 27 September 1891, the son of Roland Sydney Gray and Mary Amelia nee Wilks. He was educated as a boarder at Geelong College entering in 1907 and leaving in 1908. His entry address was listed at State School, Beechworth.

He was working as a school teacher when he enlisted ( No 2645) as a Private in 29 Infantry Battalion - 5th Reinforcements on 31 January 1916, and embarked on HMAT A68 Anchises on 14 March for France. He later transferred to the Auxiliary Motor Transport Service.

He returned to Australia, embarking on 28 October 1918 and became a teacher.

Edgar Gray died on 23 April 1946.
