The COLIN CARSTAIRS BELL PATHWAY ROWING BURSARY


The Colin Carstairs Bell Pathway Rowing Bursary is a current award funded for Rowing by the Albert Bell Club (ABC) and first established in 2016. Its purpose is to encourage students to continue rowing beyond school and maintain connections with the College rowing community. The Bursary is available for a select number of students who are passionate about rowing and keen to participate at an elite or club level beyond school.

The bursary was named in honour of notable rower, Colin Carstairs Bell OBE (1902-1961) in 2016. Colin participated in the Head of the River crews on five occasions. He coxed the 1st VIII in 1916 and 1917 before joining the crew as a rower in 1919 becoming Captain of Boats in 1920 and 1921.
